About me

Guiding nonprofit boards and CEOs through change and complexity with insight, integrity, and impact.

Philip DeBoer is an executive search and management consultant with more than a decade of experience advising nonprofit boards and CEOs on leadership, governance, and business administration. His work spans executive recruitment, compensation and employment contracts, succession planning, strategy, and organizational design—strengthening the performance and sustainability of nonprofits across arts and culture (including zoos, aquariums, arboreta, and science centers), social services, healthcare, foundations, higher education, and economic development.

Philip’s background combines sector fluency with a global perspective. He began his career in higher education, managing admissions and student services in Grand Rapids and then Chicago before transitioning to executive search. In 2022, he earned his Master of Management in International Arts Management from Southern Methodist University, HEC Montréal, and SDA Bocconi School of Management, completing a year of rigorous study across North and South America, Europe, and Asia. Known for his thoughtful, relationship-driven counsel, Philip brings both strategic insight and cultural sensitivity to his work—helping organizations identify and implement solutions with clarity, confidence, and care.

Based in Miami, Philip serves on the Board of Trustees of the Miami City Ballet. During his years in Chicago, he volunteered with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Auditorium Theatre, and Steppenwolf Theatre, supporting fundraising, events, and community engagement. His professional and volunteer work reflect a lifelong commitment to strengthening leadership and sustainability in the nonprofit sector.

Philip holds his B.A. in Communication Arts & Sciences from Calvin University.
